BCAFN Male Youth Representative
Johnny Hanuse, born in Vancouver, raised in Squirrel Cove, Cortes Island B.C. After high school a flight ticket to anywhere was to be expected. Returning home with a full backpack and some adventure stories to tell he completed two and a half years of a Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in English at Camosun College. Each year during the summer break he would return to his community and put his studies into practice by filling content for the Klahoose First Nation website. Here he developed his interests in communications, First Nation’s business and governance. Later on he completed the Aboriginal Youth Internship Program (AYIP) with the provincial government working in the Ministry of Environment with BC Parks and Old Masset Youth Group in Haida Gwaii. Since then he has been working steadily with the QXMC Board of Directors gaining unforgettable experiences with his cohort. Learning the basics of corporate structure and governance, presentations, investments, conflict management, fiduciary duties, planning and much more.
In his spare time he enjoys playing music, skateboarding, writing on his typewriter, reading and photography.
