Toba Community Forest License Agreement
The Toba Community Forest License Agreement has been a cornerstone of Klahoose’s economic development. We are entering our seventh year of operations in the Toba. We have come through the start up years successfully. The Board is now working with stewardship and management plans that are focused on the short-term objectives, and also long-term goals for sustainability that holds a strong embrace of balance. Our success in Toba Valley was proved in a review of our operations conducted by the Forest Practices Board. The full report can be found at:
This report details how Klahoose is doing an outstanding job of looking after the Toba Valley.
Managing a large and complex forest operation cannot be accomplished without having challenges. But, the board is pulling together plans for road building, harvesting, and tree planting to ensure the Toba Valley continues to provide benefits for Klahoose.
Klahoose has completed harvesting on its Forest and Range License in Homfry Channel. This completed the first phase of the harvesting. The Forestry Team has begun negotiations for the second phase of Homfry Logging and updates will be uploaded onto the website once the negotiations have travelled further in progress.
